O regresso do heroi

Após uma passagem pelo deserto Tunisino, incluindo uma visita a Tatouine e um mergulho num oásis, o Miguel e o Manuel encontram-se de novo em Tunis. amanhã devem aproveitar para visitar a capital antes de fazerem as malas para o regresso a terras Lusas.
O vôo deles deverá chegar à Portela pelas 10h de segunda feira e lá estarei para os receber. As saudades são muitas e estou desejosa de saber todos os detalhes da viagem, da travessia e do turismo! Estes dias que o Miguel esteve fora houve pouco mais que uma breve troca de sms e duas conversas ao telefone fixo - o roaming rapidamente esgotou o saldo do telemóvel - teremos de apresentar queixa na Anacom!!
Mas prometo-vos que assim que tenhamos posto a nossa vida em dia ajudarei o miguel a actualizar aqui o blog e o grupo no facebook com todas as histórias e imagens possíveis. Dêem-me só um bocadinho para o ter só para mim e depois partilho este nosso herói convosco também.

Mais uma vez um enorme obrigado a todos por todo o apoio que nos têm dado.

Parece que não temos sido os únicos a seguir o Miguel e portanto junto aqui alguns links para notícias que têm aparecido por aí na net.
Aproveito para pedir também que se "apanharam" alguma notícia na imprensa escrita (real, preto no branco, em papel MESMO) que nos avisem quais os jornais pois duvido que tenha hipótese de me plantar na papelaria amanhã a vascular os diários e desportivos todos - se ao menos pusessem logo na primeira página em letras bem gordas... One day!!

PARABENS MIGUEL CONGRATULATIONS!!

Olá a todos,

Primeiro gostava de agradecer ao meu irmão Filipe a disponibilidade para ir actualizando o blog pois eu passei a manhã a operar e sem acesso à net.

E agora os muito merecidos parabens ao meu querido Miguel!! Ele falou-me pouco tempo depois de ter terminado a prova e estava todo contente com o tempo e com a travessia. Os dois primeiros nadadores eram ambos Tunisinos, sendo que um deles já é visto como o sucessor de Oussama Mellouli - o nadador olímpico Tunisino que em Pequim venceu a primeira medalha de ouro de sempre para o seu país na prova de 1.500m. A conversa foi breve porque tarifários de roaming à parte os primeiros 4 nadadores tinham de ir fazer o teste anti-doping.

E mais uma vez obrigado a todos pelo apoio e os comentários. O Miguel não tem tido acesso à net desde que chegou à Tunisia. Talvez ao regressar a Tunis na 6ª consiga um bocadinho para poder responder por intermédio do blog a todos.

Dear all,

Thanks again to my brother for posting all the latest news on the blog during today's swim. I was in surgery all morning (the blunt end of the scalpel though!!) and so was only able to relay messages from Tunisia to Filipe.

Isn't Miguel just great? He called me shortly after completing the swim to say that he was so pleased both with the time and with the swim in general. The first two swimmers to finish were both Tunisians making him the first of the gust swimmers to arrive. One of these Tunisian swimmers is being hailed as Oussama Mellouli's "heir" (Mellouli won the Olympic Gold in Beijing for the 1.500m, bringing Tunisia it's first ever gold medal) so Miguel was really pleased to be so close. Our conversation was brief as the first 4 swimmers to finish were being drug's tested as part of the anti-doping protocol of the Dialogue Across the Seas Project.

Hopefully once Miguel returns to Tunis on Friday he will be able to access the internet and answer all of your comments and post some news himself. Until then I will try to keep the blog updated and current.

Le Grand Champion du Monde Arrivé!

Chegou. Completou a travessia numas fantásticas 4 horas e 41 minutos, e num fabuloso 3º lugar, a uns míseros 15 minutos do primeiro.
O nosso campeão está bem!
Parabéns Miguel por mais esta aventura!


He has arrived! Miguel completed the distance in 4 hours and 41 minutes, and came 3rd overall, and a measly 15 minutes behind first place.
Our champ is feeling fine.

A uma hora do fim - An hour from land

Segundo a Mariana, o Miguel estará a cerca de uma hora do final, e está tudo bem encaminhado.
Tem ainda uns dois nadadores à sua frente, mas está a encurtar a distância.

According to Mariana, Miguel is about an hour from land, and things are going swimmingly (couldn't resist). He has a couple of swimmers ahead of him, but is catching up.

Última hora - Breaking News

Às 11h, segundo o Manuel, a situação era a seguinte:

"Está tudo bem. O Miguel está bem. Já fez duas alimentações. Dos 24km já fizemos cerca de 7. Está uma corrente forte agora mas ele vai muito bem!"



As of 11h, according to Miguel's brother Manuel, the situation was as follows:

"All is well. Miguel is fine. He's eaten twice. We've completed 7 out of the 24 km. There is a strong current now, but he's doing very well!"

"Le Grand Champion du Monde" já partiu

"O grande campeão do mundo" (como é conhecido na Tunísia), e os seus companheiros partiram hoje às 9h20 e, tanto quanto sabemos, tudo está a correr bem.
"A esposa do grande campeão do mundo" (como é conhecida na Tunísia), está a fazer uma cirurgia a um pobre animal, pelo que, por enquanto, será "O grande campeão do jogo da moeda" (como é conhecido em Porto Covo), a actualizar o blogue.

"The grand champion of the world" (as he is affectionately known in Tunisis), and his sidekicks have begun their latest trial. They set off at 9h20 and things appear to be going well.
"The wife of the grand champion of the world", (as she is, less affetionately, known in Tunisia), is operating some poor animal, and therefore "the world's most handsome journalist", (as he is affectionately known in the dark corners of his own mind), will be updating the blog.
